Uncharted is a solo exhibition by Christchurch painter Simon Edwards.

For this exhibition, Simon has made a new series of works using two different mediums: Oil paintings on aluminium & board, and a new media for Simon: collages, using indian ink & inkjet prints on photographic paper.

The collages in this exhibition depict mountain scenes, where ripped edges sit against broody skies, creating dramatic contrast in the images. Simon’s oil paintings feature ocean-scapes, many of the smaller works were painted En Plein Air and then finished in the studio, Simon talks about this subject: “I like trying to capture ephemeral things; colour, light and the changing seascapes”.
