Concretions – the act of coming together provides a platform for the duo to reflect on the transience and fragility of Nature’s eco systems including how ideas and objects can be transformed by time. Works range from large photographic assemblages and paintings to small three-dimensional ceramic elements in close proximity to one another. The installation encourages them to speak to each other across the materiality of their various disciplines and the methods reflecting unpredictability, volatility and independence of the natural environments we live in.

The works are largely inspired by their rich and awe-inspiring visits to Whakaari/White Island and their new body of research gathered during their Volcanic Artist Residency in the Eastern Bay of Plenty last year.

On the opening night a unique ‘Happening’ performed by well-known contemporary dancers Julia Harvie and Josie Archer will add a layer of intrigue and bodily experience for the audience.
