Exhibition Information

Between The Lines - Patrick Barry

Patrick Barry’s first exposure to stone and drawing came while working on a graveyard when he was sixteen. Chosen for the job because of his ability to draw, he began creating shapes of the seventeenth century Celtic head stones as well as documenting any information that related to them. Patrick committed to his calling and was rewarded a Bachelors or Art in Fine Art from Crawford Collage of Art & Design, Cork, Ireland where he specialised in sculpture. Over 20 years later, Patrick has carved full time, using predominately monumental Irish Limestone creating public & private sculptures. His principle collections include Botanic Gardens Dublin, RHA (Royal Hibernian Academy) selection Ireland, University Collage Dublin Collection, Cork City Fitzgerald Park (sculpture garden), a large collection of tender awarded Public Commissions and winner of the Douglas Hyde Gold Medal for Art.

This is Patrick’s first solo exhibition in New Zealand.
