Artists

Jono Stone is a local artist—born in Waiharakeke (Blenheim) and moved to call Ōtautahi home in 2023 after stints in various cities across the North Island, Australia and Canada.

Jono studied and pursued a career in Graphic design, however; in 2021 followed a natural gravitation back to traditional mediums. This pull led him to the world of Pounamu carving, where he met local acclaimed artist Jon Jeet.

Learning to carve under Jon, he now teaches others as part of Jon’s kaupapa: ‘Tūhono Taonga, Tūhono Tāngata’.
Jono’s art has and continues to evolve with his life experiences, it therefor is heavily influenced by what he values most: the natural world, presence, connection and the resonance of music.
