Artist Biography
My love of glass comes from fossicking about in car wreckers during my teenage years. When I found a broken windscreen, I imagined I’d found diamonds.
I began my career in the 1980’s as a ceramic artist and have evolved over the years with the kiln being the backbone for my art.
In the early 2000’s I started fusing glass and making pendants, then dabbling with recycled glass. When I saw the shattered bus shelters around Christchurch with the glass sparkling like diamonds in the sunlight, being a bit of a magpie, I collected some and took it home to experiment.
Through trial and a lot of error I have developed the skills to eventually master my technique.
When the Christchurch earthquake struck I lost everything but my kiln. I moved to Timaru where I have set up my glass studio and continue my journey.
Re-fusing broken glass to form my artwork is healing for me and I am blessed to do what I love.
These works of art are my diamonds.
