Rosa Allison paintings may engage with familiar traditions of painterly, gestural abstraction, but reveal a more generous response to a variety of painterly processes and narratives. Large-scale gestures and marks occupy and share the space of the picture plane with collaged oval forms, alluding to animated figurative elements in a constant state of oscillation and renewal within a complexity of spatial relationships. Allison was the recipient of the University of Canterbury Arts scholarship in 2011, graduating BFA in Painting in 2014.
