Artist Biography

Lynne Lambert (b.1949, UK)

Lynne Lambert is a New Zealand artist. She was born in Clapham, South London, England, and immigrated to New Zealand in 1973. She graduated from the University of Canterbury School of Fine Arts, completing a BFA in Painting in 1997 and a BFA (Hons) in 1998.

For more than 25 years, Lambert has worked in a variety of mediums including painting, sculpture, installation and fabric through an arts practice that considers themes and questions about memory and identity, her own life experiences being pivotal points of reference. She exhibits regularly in solo and group shows throughout New Zealand.

From 2005 to 2007 she toured a major solo exhibition ‘The LIVLIF Project’, a celebration of breast cancer survival. The installation, created from 1,480 donated second hand bras, 668 from breast cancer survivors, was shown in 8 public galleries in Aotearoa New Zealand. She has work in the permanent collection of the Christchurch Art Gallery Te Puna o Waiwhetū and in private collections in New Zealand, UK, USA and Canada.
