Artist Biography
Carolyn Currie is a printmaker based in Otautahi Christchurch, New Zealand. Her work often includes elements and forms from her local urban and geographical area, recently exploring natural boundaries and intervention on the Port Hills and surrounding areas. She likes to work with a range of printmaking practices, primarily including drypoint, woodcut and monoprint, with linework being a key feature in her work. She finds interest and beauty in unusual objects and subject matter that are frequently overlooked by others. Her process could be described as spontaneous, often evolving as she works.
Carolyn Currie graduated from Ara Institute in 2020 with a Bachelor of Design in Applied Visual Arts. She is an emerging local artist that has lived at the foot of the Port Hills for the last 40 years.
